Product Description:
Keystone Collection
American Windsor Dining Chair

The founding fathers embraced the Windsor chair and master woodworkers ever since have bent it to their vision. The Amish American Windsor Dining Chair is proudly handcrafted in the USA and offers a 25 year warranty! Made of 100% solid hard Red Oak, Cherry or Maple wood. These chairs are built to last!

Chair bows and backs are solid wood bendings with no unsightly glue joings. Age old construction techniques are used such as mortise and tenon joinery which allows for touch usage. A special assembly glue is even used on all the chairs in the Keystone Collection. This allows the chair parts to stay snug and tight under years of use rather than becoming brittle and loose with age and wear. The legs on the American Windsor Dining Chair are glued and screwed to the seat and the stretchers are glued and pinned to the legs.

Each chair is visually inspected to ensure that it passes our high standards or quality, durability and comfort.

Proudly made in the USA!
Testimonial From Our Customers (View All)
Jim,

The furniture is just beautiful and we could not be happier. Those of us who had seen the furniture before and after the refinishing were dazzled by the difference. The rest of the family gushed over it. It is all we had hoped it would be and then some.

I want to thank you again personally for taking the concerned and decisive action that you did on this. I know you did not do it primarily to earn business, but judging by what I have heard from our family and friends, you have done just that. Thanks again.

Chair Quality Features

Chair Quality Features

Shown here are just a few examples of the craft and care that go into every piece. Hundreds of meticulous acts assure that solid hardwood is transformed into solid furniture, so durable it lasts a lifetime. So the real beauty is, the beauty lasts.

Chair Quality Features . . .

Solid Wood Construction.

Handcrafted from Appalachian red oak, Pennsylvania red cherry, or Northern rock maple.

Leveled Chair Leg.

A precision-engineered saw cuts all four legs to ensure the chair sits level and flat on the floor.  Chair legs are precisely trimmed and angled to sit solidly on the floor and also to give a very comfortable posture.

Finger Joining on Frame Chairs.

Each corner of the frame chairs are permanently fused together by finger joining, a unique glue, one lag anchor and two screws.  We fasten the hardwood securely.

Mortise & Tenon.

Most of our chairs utilize mortise and tenon joinery for tremendous strength and durability.  The mortise and tenon construction is on all four corners of our frame chairs plus a corner block!

Special Elasticity Glue.

Special assembly glue is used-allowing the chair parts to stay snug and tight under years of use rather than becoming brittle and loose with age and wear.  Many other chair manufacturers use strong glue which causes the joint to break or the chair to creak.

Steam Bending.

Our steam-bent hardwood parts provide style and beauty.

Saddle Scoop.

Provides optimal seating comfort.

Non-Frame Chair Construction.

The legs are screwed and glued to the seat, stretchers are glued and pinned to the legs.  The legs go through the seat ¾ of the way and the chair bow goes through the seat and gets wedged.  The top of the bow is smooth.  This woodworker chooses not to wedge the spindles into the bow as over time this would create unevenness with expansion and contraction.  Chair bows and backs are solid wood bendings, no laminated plywood.

Chair Dimensions.

Chair measurements are listed with each chair in this format:

W = overall chair width
D = overall chair depth
H = overall chair height
SD = sitting depth
SH = chair seat height
AW = width between arms
AH= chair arm height

Finish.

Begin with the end in mind.  Start by choosing one of the hardwoods.  End with selecting how to finish it.  Premium water resistant conversion varnish finishes are standard, custom stain and paint colors are available.  And remember, the pictures you see on our website do not convey the exact colors and textures of wood, leather and fabric.  Ask to see actual samples.  More are available than shown here.

The chair is expertly finished to leave a silky, smooth feeling.  The underside of the chair is sanded and finished for beauty and to prevent warping and cracking.  Two coats of sealers are used with sanding in between.  The premium grade conversion varnish that is applied to all of our furniture is hard, tough and resistant to common household chemicals.  This protective finish resists the absorption of liquids left on furniture surfaces and helps to eliminate watermarks.

Craftsman Signature.

Every chair is signed and dated by the craftsman who assembles it.

Leather & Upholstery

Leather & Upholstery

Choose from a wide range of well-mannered fabrics and sumptuous leathers.   More choices are added each year to our selection, but don’t be limited by even that. Find and supply your own material, and we’ll be delighted to work with it to make your Keystone Collection™ furniture uniquely your own.

Keystone Collection Green Difference

Keystone Collection Green Difference

Here at the home of the Keystone Collections, we believe that we are called to be good stewards of all the resources God has entrusted to us. This stewardship also translates to the personal health and well being of our team members and the manufacture and delivery of furniture in an environmentally responsible manner.

Sustainable Manufacturing

We work with lumber harvested from the Appalachian mountain region of the USA, using suppliers who are adhering to sustainable forestry principles on both public and private timberlands. These practices for the management, reforestation, growing, nurturing, and harvesting of trees help to protect the landscapes and fragile ecosystems of our forests and ensure the availability of lumber for future generation. Actually, our forests are being replenished at a faster rate than they are being harvested. Most of our sources are located within 500 miles from the woodshop, saving fuel, shipping costs, and leaving a smaller carbon footprint than imported lumber.

We make sure that the most of each piece of wood is used with as little waste as possible. Everyone in our organization is focused on continuous improvement to eliminate waste in every aspect of our manufacturing. Leftover wood waste is used locally for heating sources and the sawdust goes to local farmers for animal bedding.

Our packaging materials include corrugated cardboard boxes containing forty percent recycled content and are recyclable.

Lifetime Heirloom Furniture

The Keystone Collections is comprised of functional, environmentally responsible, handcrafted furniture that will last a lifetime. This solid hardwood furniture will in most cases never enter the waste stream. Because of this very exceptional feature, it can last and be renovated and reused over and over again. By purchasing "right the first time" you will be able to reap the economic and aesthetic benefits of high quality furniture for years to come.

Very few other consumables available have such a “whole-life-performance” impact as does wood furniture. When solid hardwood furniture has outlived its primary usefulness, it can be resold, refinished, reused, recycled, or returned to the soil.

Custom Furniture

Walk through a hardwood forest, and you'll see each maple, oak, or cherry tree is a little different from the ones growing next to it. It's no surprise even identical chairs have individual patterns in their grain. Just as no two pieces of furniture are exactly alike, no two people are. We honor your individuality by offering nearly unlimited possibilities for what is, after all, an intensely personal choice: choosing custom handcrafted furniture. Each piece is made to order, one at a time, to your specifications. In the exact style, wood, finish, dimensions, and details you choose. If you don't see it here, ask for it. For example, your chairs can sit higher, or your table lower. Your hutch can be two doors wide, or spread out to five. We can even hand paint your custom furniture order for you. Choose a table to seat four or, if you live large, twenty-four. We care, so we take pains. And, for most orders, that takes extra time. But think. A lifetime of beauty.

Custom Furniture is this woodworker's specialty!  Please call or email us with your ideas and our dedicated sales associates will be glad to process a custom quote for you.

Craftsman Date & Signature

Craftsman Date & Signature
Our craftsmen enjoy their work. And one way to show it is to autograph it. Once your furniture is completed and inspected, each table and hutch is stamped with our Keystone insignia and personally signed and dated by the craftsman responsible. To us, it's a mark of integrity and assurance of excellence.

An additional option
We can personalize it with your choice of wording, sealed with our premier finish, permanently identifying it as a prized family heirloom from a custom furniture maker.

Painted Finish

A little paint. A huge difference.
Handcrafted furniture finishing is an option that will dramatically change not only its appearance but its mood.

Custom furniture painting shows off the exquisite texture of oak, cherry, or maple, while minimizing the grain color variations. Depending on your choice of paint color and offsetting stain, and which parts are painted and which stained, you can achieve any of dozens of radically different effects. And capture yesterday's charm in today's style.

Beyond the colors shown below, we can custom-mix one for you - just send us a sample.

This finishing process is available on all our furniture.

Glazed Finish

For that antique look, glaze the finish.

Furniture glazing is an optional process that replicates natural age and wear, making your new furniture appear as though it had been passed down for generations. We apply the glaze by hand-rubbing it over the finish. As it brings out the texture of the wood, we work it into the details and crevices to darken them and build contrast. We rub it off the high points to suggest wear. The authentic patina requires expert skill.

Today's buyers of glazed finish furniture get to have it both ways: resurrecting the past while exhibiting very current taste.

This finishing process is available on all our furniture.

Distressing

Character lines and age marks may not be prized in people, but they certainly are in furniture. Ask us. We have many ways to achieve the heirloom furniture aura you're looking for.

Our distress packages can include indentations, pin holes, simulated cracks and sand-through highlights at common wear points. For example, the table and chair legs will look like shoes and brooms have scuffed them over the years. And to guess from the knob, the drawer has been opened a thousand times.

We also offer custom distressing with your choice of which effects you prefer.

Keystone Antiquity (Light Distressing)

Expert glazing to replicate a rich natural patina, light distressing, slightly eased edges, and pinholes are among the subtle hints of graceful aging that make this lightly antiqued finish so popular.

Keystone Vintage (Medium distressing)

The techniques of our light Antiquity Finish are further beautifully accentuated by medium distressing and hand-brushed highlighting to add a century of age to the appearance.

Keystone Legacy (Heavy distressing)

Our ultimate antique finish. Rub-throughs of the rich patina are masterfully punctuated with another level of nicks, simulated cracks and other distressing techniques to bespeak several centuries of robust wear and loving care.

Hand-Planed Finish

Recreating the hand-planed look of yesteryear.

Somewhere in our colonial past, a master craftsman bent over his plane.

With long, steady strokes, he brought thin curls of wood off the high points of the table top, shaving and sculpting until he was satisfied it was as true as possible. Still imperfect. But a thing of beauty.

Today that look represents an ideal we strive to recreate with our hand-planed option and our very own craftsmen. Our hardwood furniture distressing option is available on all table tops, hutch buffet tops, occasional tops, and the top of our chair seats. We also offer custom hand planing options to bring you that old furniture look you're after..

This finishing process is available on all our furniture and can be combined with painting, glazing and hand-planing options.

Keystone Protective Finish

Begin with the end in mind. Start by choosing one of the hardwoods. End with selecting how to finish it. Premium water resistant conversion varnish finishes are standard, custom stain and paint colors are available. And remember, pictures printed on paper do not convey the exact colors and textures of wood, leather and fabric. Ask to see actual samples. More are available than shown here.

Keystone™ Protective Finish

Amish Furniture - American Made

We proudly sell Amish furniture that is handcrafted in the USA.

It is so important these days to buy American!  This is becoming harder and harder to do it because over half of the furniture in today’s marketplace is imported!  All of our furniture is handcrafted in the USA by skilled craftsmen using Old World techniques passed on for generations.  As a result, we are creating local family-friendly jobs for talented craftsmen, which in turn benefit the community. By carefully sourcing our raw materials, we avoid deforestation and uncontrolled pollution that is often allowed with overseas production.

There is something unique about American made furniture, particularly furniture that is handcrafted by the Amish. Our woodworkers make fine furniture using small tools powered by generators and hands as they have for decades, according to time-honored traditions.

When you purchase our fine furniture, you're buying an heirloom product that will last for generations. Additionally, you're supporting a cottage industry that is truly American - an investment you can take pride in.

Our customers take great pride in buying these American Made Heirlooms, knowing that their furniture was made as a labor of love, not in some factory assembly line overseas. And we take pride in selling each handsomely crafted piece.

Our furniture and other products are handcrafted in a clean, safe, environmentally compliant work environment. Experience the difference of furniture made in the USA!

Keystone Collections Lifetime Guarantee

Integrity of Workmanship gives you peace of mind. Should your furniture fail because of defective workmanship during the life-time of the original owner, we will repair or replace it.

Normal wear, misuse, alterations, commercial use, finish, and seasonal splits are excluded. Transportation is the responsibility of the consumer.
